This is what happens if you don't wait for the casts to dry. You wrap the foot wait 5 minutes put on a Superfast shoe and trot the horse away. This "barefoot shoe" was the out come a wonderful gallop the next day, the "cast shoe" came flying off. It was saved and serves well to show the perfect protection it provides. Dental impression was used because this horse had a bad central sulci fungal infection and thus trotted with a head bob. Notice the deep collateral grooves. The dental impression pressed the Thermazine deep into the groves with each step the horse took and provided the support and comfort to walk on his heels. Without the dental impression the horse walked toe first.

The owner had tried boots, boots with pads but the horse had a slightly club foot and the heels were to high and the frog to contracted to make proper contact with the ground. With a good trim, Thermazine, dental impression and a cast the horse was immediately rideable.
Bottom with Superfast
Here is a clever idea from a friend and farrier Sheldon Olsen, he used 4 borium nails into the cast only and used Superfast all around the circumference of the foot. This way there was no ice build up under the foot.
